Ollie Mae Koontz

Mrs. Ollie Mae Call Koontz, 92, a resident of Mallard Ridge and formerly of W. Center St. Ext., in the Paul’s Chapel Community, died Wednesday, July 15 at the Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 17 at Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Dr. Dave Ambroso officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Koontz was born May 6, 1917 in Davidson County to Charlie and Bertha Mae Foster Call. She was a homemaker and cared for her children and grandchildren and kept other children in the community. She was a charter member of Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Guild and the Women’s Class. She was also a charter member of the West Lexington Ladies Auxillary and a former Cub Scout den mother. Her husband, Palmer Lindsay Koontz, preceded her in death as well as her brother, Frank Call, and her sister, Rebecca Curry. She is survived by her sons, Palmer Joel Koontz, and Ted Koontz, and wife, Carol, both of Lexington; her brothers, Vestal Call, Foster Call, Cecil Call, all of Lexington, and Charles Ray Call of Florida; her sister, Irene Hicks of Lexington; her grandchildren, Melinda Smith, Sandy Nato, Tracie Bean, and Sherri Callahan; and eight great grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 2:00 PM Friday prior to the service in the Church Parlor. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paul’s Chapel United Church of Christ, 2791 W. Center Street Ext., Lexington NC 27295 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292. The Family would like to thank the staff and caregivers at Mallard Ridge and the Hinkle Hospice House for their care and devotion.
