Ada Mae Hankins

Ada Mae Pennington Hankins, 80, of Kentwood Lane, died Monday, August 3, 2015, at her home. The funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Davidson Funeral Home with the Revs. Terry Coats and Sammy Allison Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and other times at the home. Mrs. Hankins was born March 2, 1935, in Tazwell, Va., to Clarence Pennington and Rosella Ferguson Pennington. She was a homemaker and attended Spruce Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Jean Robicheau; a sister, Lucy McGuire; and brother, Gene Pennington. Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years Fred Hankins; son, Roy Hankins and wife Dawn of Lexington; daughters, Jackie Vestal and husband Ralph and Clara Love and husband Tim, all of Lexington; son-in-law, Eddie Robicheau of Lexington; grandchildren, Angie Haynes, Jeremy Haynes, Amanda Crouch and husband Nathan, Daniel Love, Christopher Hankins, Julie Aker and husband Jim, and Jennifer Craver and husband Zack; five great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brothers, Samuel Pennington and wife Jean, John Pennington and wife Ann, and Emory Pennington, all of Virginia; and sister, Pauline Perry and husband Herman of Virginia. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292. The family would like to extend special thanks to Hospice and staff for all the care and concern shown to Ada and her family.
