Adrian Roby Kinney

September 2, 1925 — August 11, 2007

Adrian Roby Kinney, 81, of Old Linwood Road, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Forest Hill Memorial Park by the Rev. Derek Boggs. Burial will follow with military rites by VFW Post 3074. Mr. Kinney was born in Davidson County on Sept. 2, 1925, to Numer Roby Kinney and Lillian Senter Kinney. He and his wife owned and operated Kinney Mapping and Realty until his retirement. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II, a member of VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8, Amvets Post 13 and DAV Chapter 39. He had a special affection for the game of horseshoes. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Robert Kinney and Donald Kinney. Surviving are his favorite fishing buddy and loving wife, June Mims Kinney of the home; two daughters, Lillian June Ritz and Janet Ruth Osborne and her husband, Warren, all of Lexington; a son, Donnie Adrian Kinney and his wife, Carmen, of Lexington; a son-in-law, Roger Ritz of Roanoke, Va.; six grandchildren, Alexander Myers, Anna Robinson, Catherine Ritz, Robert Ritz, Chad Kinney and Dakota Kinney; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruth Mashburn of Lexington; a brother, Richard Kinney and his wife, Lib, of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Martha Fritts Kinney of Lexington; and special friends Goldie and Dewitte Doman, Jean and Daniel Donathan and Margie and Vogen Everhart. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 308, Lexington, NC 27293.
