YADKINVILLE | Albert Carlton Ackers, 83, of Liberty Church Road, died Sunday morning, Sept. 30, 2007, at his home. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Billy Sloop. Burial will follow in the Byerly Family cemetery on Phillips Road, Lexington, with military honors. Mr. Ackers was born in Raleigh County, West Virginia, on April 6, 1924, to Jesse James Hatcher and Leona Virginia Farley Hatcher. He was a retired employee of the Atomic Energy Commission. He was of the Baptist faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Lacy, Edward, Kenneth and John Hatcher, a twin brother who failed to survive. Surviving are one brother, Daniel Hatcher of Winston- Salem; sisters Rosetta Phillips of Lexington and Mary West of Yadkinville; and a number of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday night at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and at other times at the home of his nephew, Darrell West, 142 Archie Lane, Lexington.
