Albert Bennett Gobble, age 95 of Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of West 4 th Avenue Lexington passed away Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at Brookstone.
A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM October 6, 2020 at Salsibury National Cemetery with Rev. Doug Rowe officiating and with military flag folding honors There will be no public visitation, however Albert will lie in state at Davidson Funeral Home from 10:00 am until 5:00 PM Tuesday September 29, 2020 for signing register and public viewing. Mask is suggested and social distancing is in force.
Albert was born in Davidson County January 18, 1925 to Charles Walser Gobble and Etta Fritts Gobble. He was the retired owner/operator of Gobble Service Station which he ran for 35 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church; life member of Lexington Memorial Lodge 473, York Rite, Scottish Rite 33degree, a Shriner and life member of the Oasis Shrine Temple and served in the US Air Force during World War II; was also a member of American Legion Post 8 and VFW Post 3074. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 68 years, Ellen Owen Gobble; sister, Frances Gobble; brothers, Page and Paul Gobble.
Surviving are his niece, Kathy Lomax of Lexington; nephew, Randy Lomax (Tammy) of Lexington; special friends, Tammy Leonard (Jeff) of Lexington; lots of friends and Masonic Brethren.
