Albert Sheets Varner, Jr. age 78, of Greensboro Street, Ext. passed away Friday morning (October 29, 2010) at Lexington Health Care. Funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm Sunday (October 31, 2010) at Pilgrim Reformed Church with Rev. George Fidler officiating. Burial will follow at Pilgrim Reformed Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday and at other times at the home of his son 2412 Greensboro Street Ext.
Albert was born in Davidson County July 3, 1932 to Albert Sheets Varner, Sr. and Stella Mae Medlin Varner. A graduate of Lexington High School and was a lifelong member of Pilgrim Reformed Church, where he had perfect attendance for twelve years. He retired from Industrial Products after 26 years of service and later worked with Wackenhut Security for Richard Childress Racing. He was a veteran of the US Army and a retired volunteer fireman with North Lexington Triangle Fire Department where he served for thirty years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Linda Shaw Varner in 2007, a sister Lois Varner Tysinger, and a brother, Lawrence Varner Sr.
Surviving are: one son Edward “Eddie” Albert Varner of Lexington and a special dog Blackie.
