Alex Cathell Beck

Alex Cathell Beck, age 96, of Lexington, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Salisbury, NC.

A funeral service celebrating his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Reeds Baptist Church, with Rev. Jerry Beck officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.

Born on March 27, 1929, in Davidson County, Alex was the son of the late Percy Madison Beck and Eva Burkhart Beck. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he earned a Marksmanship Trophy. Following his service, he worked as a supervisor at Link Taylor until his retirement.

A devoted Tar Heel fan, Alex was also a faithful and active member of Reeds Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, and participated in numerous mission trips. His dedication to his faith and community was a hallmark of his life.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 70 years, Charlotte Young Beck; brothers Waldo Beck, Colon Beck, and Brasco Beck; and sisters Faye Beck Cherry and Mary Beck Kivett.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother Leonard Beck (Cindy); godsons Rick Jarvis (Karen) and Roger Jarvis (Robin); and god-grandchildren Alicia, Amanda, and Jessica. He also leaves behind many extended family members and friends who will miss his kind spirit and steadfast faith.
