Alfred Bowens, 84 of Lexington, passed away on Friday, October 30, 2020 at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, November 2, 2020 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Gibson officiating and will stream live on the Davidson Funeral Home Facebook page at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome/
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, those attending the services should practice social distancing and wear a face cover. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mr. Bowens was born on June 10, 1936 in Washington County, VA to Isaach Bowens and Varney Jennings Bowens. He retired from Bowens Roofing and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Myrtie Leonard Bowens; brother, Charlie Bowen; half-brothers, Jack Hensley, Danny Hensley, Duke Hensley, Fred Bowen; sisters, Dot Winager, Corey Winager, and Peggy Winager.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, William Bowens (Lori) of Lexington, Shane Bowens (Michelle) of Lexington, Shoun Bowens (Christy) of Shallotte, Donnie Bowens of Lexington, Ronnie Bowens (Susan) of Florida, Michael Bowens of Lexington; daughters, Wanda Babb (Tom) of Lexington, Karen Gardner (Mike) of Florida, Melissa Jernigan (fiancé, Steve Bivens) of Lexington; half-brothers, Red Hensley, Cotton Hensley, Lonnie Hensley and Jim Hensley, all of Lexington; 22 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of hospice for the love and care they gave to Mr. Bowens.
