Alice Crawford

Alice Joe Adkins Crawford, 86, a resident of Lexington, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2021 at her residence. Alice was born in Richmond, Virginia on September 10, 1935 to the late Evans Marion and Christine Hetherington Adkins. She was a retired seamstress and homemaker. Alice was a member of First Baptist Church in Welcome for many years. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed shopping with her church friends and playing Bingo in town. Alice loved spending time with her family and was so proud of all her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her plants and animals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Carlyle Crawford, Sr.; a grandson, Jacob Owen; and a sister, Betty Ann Turner.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, December 2, 2021 at 2:00 PM in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to First Baptist Church in Welcome.

Alice is survived by her children, Melvin Crawford, Jr. of Lexington Jeff Crawford (Jackie) of Salisbury, Timothy Warren Crawford (Barbara) of Lexington, and Janet Crawford Owen of Lexington; grandchildren, Tracy, Jeffrey, Jr. (Live Action), Amy, Jessica, and Julia; thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
