Alice Charles Layton passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 while at The Laurels of Salisbury. Alice was born December 18, 1927 in Davidson County.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Layton, parents Jacob Charles and Eunice Charles Hedrick, brothers, Joe Charles and Robert Charles, sisters, Blanch Welch and Francis Charles all of Lexington.
Alice is survived by her daughter Tonda Morefield of Salisbury, grandchildren, Dale (Kris) Morefield of Waxhaw, Amy (Jeff) Lindsay, Michael (Christy) Morefield all of Salisbury, great-grandchildren, Devan (Damian) Beaver of Salisbury, Samantha and Margaret Morefield of Waxhaw, Emily Puckett of Salisbury, Lauren, Tyler, Emily, Carter and Jackson Morefield all of Salisbury, great-great grandchild, Tennasyn Beaver of Salisbury, brother, Russell (Betty) Charles of High Point and sister, Nora Charles of Lexington. Other survivors include her many nieces, nephews and countless friends she made over her life.
A graveside memorial service will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at Lexington City Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Disher officiating. The visitation will follow the service at the graveside.
