Alice Elizabeth Leonard, 88, of Genesis Elder Care, Salisbury formerly of Briggstown Road, Lexington, died Monday, April 23, 2007, at the nursing home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beck’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. David Huddle. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Ms. Leonard was born in Davidson County, on January 31, 1919, to John Wesley Leonard and Clara Ada Swing Leonard. She retired from the U.S. Army after serving as a nurse for 28 years, which included World War II. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Raymond Leonard, Dermont Leonard, and Lloyd Leonard; and sisters, Lottie Beck, Elva Briggs, and Margaret Bates.
Surviving are a brother, James O. Leonard of Pembroke, NC; sister, Virginia Leonard of Wildwood, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the church prior to the service.
