Alice Overly

Alice Elizabeth Snyder Lawson Overly, 87 of Brookstone Nursing Home, Lexington, died Friday May 29, 2009 in Brookstone Nursing Home. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jeff Walser officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Overly was born on September 9, 1921 in Spartanburg, SC to Humphrey Snyder and Julia Wilson Snyder. She retired from Erlanger Mills and was a member of Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband James Overly; three sons Cliff Lawson, Carl Lawson and Johnny Lawson; brothers Bill Snyder, Gene Snyder, George Snyder; sisters Connie Walker, Edith Brooks, Edna Eenoy and Evelyn Benoy. Surviving are sons Pete Lawson and wife Margaret and Roger Lawson and wife Sarah; daughters Pat Cockerham & husband John and Carolyn Byerly and husband Delmar, all of Lexington; nine grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a daughter in law, Debra Lawson of Myrtle Beach. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Monday at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel and other times at the home of her daughter Pat on Beck’s Church Road.
