Alice Carrick Shirley, 79, of Holloways Church Road, died suddenly on Sunday, October 7, 2007, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Floyd Baptist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Tommy Floyd, Craig Barnhill and Tim Miller. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Shirley was born July 1, 1928, in Davidson County to General Walstine Carrick and Lillie Lou Rogers Carrick. She was a former employee at Dixie Furniture. She was married to James Lewis Floyd who preceded her in death in 1978. She later married Bryce Edwin Shirley who survives of the home.
Also surviving are a son, Neil Floyd of Denton; step sons, Johnny Shirley of Southmont, Michael Roland Shirley of Liberty, Nathan Deitz and Vinson Hensley, both of Lexington; daughter, Carol Peacock of Lexington; stepdaughters, Julia Stevens of Lexington and Patricia Adams of Salisbury; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Calvin Carrick of Lexington.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, October 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home, 340 Holloways Church Road.
