Alice Lookabill Warfford, 93, of S. NC Highway 8, died Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Stoner’s Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Billy Pearson officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Warfford was born March 2, 1921, in Davidson County, to Clyde Davis Lookabill and Lucretia Surratt Lookabill. She had served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a homemaker who had worked various jobs in the textile and furniture industries. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Foy Alexander Warfford Sr., who died December 7, 2002; daughter, Marie Warfford Floyd; brothers, Carl Lookabill, Lee Lookabill, and Van Lookabill; and sisters, Ernestine Penry and Mildred Lanier.
Surviving are son, Foy “Pete” Warfford Jr. and wife Glenda of Lexington; daughters, Donna Warfford Best and husband James and Faye Warfford Freeman and husband Barry, all of Lexington; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and sisters, Voncille Comer of Southmont, Billie Cook of Denton and Jeffie Nichols of Wilmington.
