Lexington

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alice McGinnis Wilson, who peacefully departed from this world on September 26, 2025, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, at the age of 85.

Alice was born on October 25, 1939, to Gilbert Elmer McGinnis and Ola Lee Glascoe McGinnis. Alice was a devoted wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was known for her captivating smile that lit up a room and made you feel like you were being wrapped in pure kindness. Alice touched countless lives with her warm heart and generous spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.

A long-time member of Fork Baptist Church, Alice was a devout Christian and an avid scholar of the Bible. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and inspiring her devotion to others throughout her life.

A woman of many talents and interests, Alice was passionate about travel, exploring 48 states and more than 10 countries. She found beauty in the world around her and believed being in nature was like being close to God. Always a creative person, she was a talented seamstress, clothing her family, friends, and children’s Barbie dolls in custom-made outfits. She was a prolific reader and passed this love along to her children. A lover of art, music, and theater, she admired the masterworks of Claude Monet and the Impressionist painters, and enjoyed attending musical theater locally and on Broadway.

Alice had a long career in Customer Service with the Stone Container Corporation, where, after more than 30 years, she retired in 2004. She was so highly regarded as a Customer Service professional and a teacher that she was selected as a trainer for a company-wide system implementation. For this work, she was named Employee of the Year.

Her life will be remembered and cherished by her beloved husband of 68 years, Thomas Fredrick Wilson, son, Dwain Wilson (and wife Ellen Elphand), daughters, Karen Pruette, Cynthia Williams (and husband Sam Hindman), sisters Mary Lee Bergh and Sybil Coulman, her grandchildren Brad Pruette and Jessica Hepfner (and husband Aaron Hepfner), and her great-grandchildren Chloe Burleson and Ryan Hepfner, plus many extended family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ola Lee and Gilbert McGinnis, and her brother, Kenneth McGinnis.

Friends and family are invited to pay their respects at the visitation, which will be held from 12:30 till 1:30 PM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Fork Baptist Church in Mocksville, NC. A service to celebrate Alice's life will follow at 2:00 PM on the same day at Fork Baptist Church.

She will be remembered for her loving nature, her dedication to her family, and her unwavering commitment to her faith. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace. While flowers are welcome, the family has also established a Memorial Page  with the Alzheimer’s Association. Donations in Alice’s memory will help progress the fight against Alzheimer’s.
