Alice Faye Workman

Alice Faye (Cook) Workman, 84, of Davidson County, passed away peacefully at Abbotts Creek, on Friday, January 9, 2026.

There are no formal services at this time, and a private service will be held by the family at a later date.

Alice was born on December 3, 1941, in Boone County, West Virginia, to the late Opie Cook and Elsie Green Cook.

Alice was a devoted homemaker who poured her time, energy, and love into caring for her family. She found simple joy in relaxing in her recliner with her favorite television shows and rarely missed an episode, cherishing those quiet moments of comfort. Alice had a gentle heart for animals, especially cats, and there was always at least one feline companion sharing her home and her affection.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Odra Lee Workman, brother, Gene Cook, and sister, Mary Ann Edwards.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Angie Gyorko, of Morgantown, WV, and Linda Gail Motsinger (Neal), of Winston-Salem; sister, Marina Young, of Bob White, WV; five grandchildren, Amy Garbrick (Barry), Kim Nicholson (Chad), Hannah Templin (Joe), Megan Vaughn (Justin), and Emma Grace Motsinger; and five great grandchildren, Tyler Garbrick, Ethan Garbrick, Nash Nicholson, Elsie Nicholson, and Huntley Grace Daniels.

The family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at Abbotts Creek Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional and comforting care during her rehabilitation.

The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Ruby Dickens, her close friend and caretaker, who spent a great amount of time with Alice over the years, providing companionship and a helping hand whenever she could.
