Allen Carter Bailey, 81, of Cow Palace Road, died Friday, August 16, 2013, at his home, following a three year illness.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, August 19, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park with Military Honors. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013, at the funeral home and other times at the home.
Mr. Bailey was born April 16, 1932, in Clinton, TN, to George Preston Bailey and Thelma Beaver Bailey. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and later was a service technician with John Brown Corp., and a member of New Hope Baptist Church of Salisbury. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers.
Surviving are his loving wife, Vallie Virginia Gaulden Bailey of the home; sons, Keith Bailey and wife Kathy of Denton and Barry Beal and wife Rose of Greensboro; daughters, Dawn Dobey and husband Michael, Linda Briggs and husband Darrell, Anne Humphrey and husband Sid, all of Lexington, Cindy Henley and husband Tex and Barbara Campbell, both of Greensboro; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and sister, Mary Shoaf of Lexington.
