Allen Grady Burrus, Sr. age 78 of Hillcrest Road, Linwood passed away at his home Saturday afternoon (March 14, 2015) after a 6 month illness.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (March 17, 2015) at St. Lukes Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeff Hoffner officiating. Burial will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery with military honors by Davidson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at
Church from 12:45 until 1:45 prior to the service.
Allen was born in Catawba County September 16, 1936 to Bruce Bost and Flora Plott Burrus. He was a retired employee of City of Newton, Water Utilities Department; lifetime member of Startown Optimist Club of Newton, member of Family Campers and RV’ers; member of Square-N-Aders Dance Club; a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church and a Veteran of the US Navy during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ethel Lail and Zora Clark; brothers, Gordon, Bruce, Jr., Douglas, Harvey, James and Carl Burrus.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Fink Burrus of the home; daughters, Kim Lail, Lisa Drum and Amy Rudisill (Erik) all of Hickory, NC; son, Allen Grady (Andy) Burrus, Jr. of Newton; step-sons, Gary Fink (Libby) and Charles Fink (Susan) all of Linwood, Tim Fink (Carolyn) of Fairfax, VA and Michael Fink (Debbie) of Woodbridge, VA; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Joyce Keever (Ray) of Statesville.
