Allen Stepp

Douglas Allen Stepp, 50, of Jackson Avenue, died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2006, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Edward C. Smith Civic Center in Lexington by the Rev. Doug McGee. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Stepp was born in Davidson County on Nov. 16, 1955, to Clayton Douglas Stepp and Louise King Stepp. He was a firefighter with the City of Lexington Fire Department and the West Lexington Fire Department. He was a member of the Davidson County Firemen's Association and the International Association of Firefighters. He was a volunteer with the Davidson County Special Olympics and was a member of the mentor program with the Lexington City Schools. He was a member of Arrington Heights Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Janice Lawson Stepp of the home; one son, Jeremy Shawn Stepp of the home; one daughter, Rheanna Doree Stepp of the home; his parents of Lexington; and three cousins, Revonda Gibson and her husband, Robbie, and Jessica and Sarah Spann, all of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the civic center on South Main Street and other times at the home of his parents, 149 Jackson Ave. Allen loved his family, his extended family at the fire department and his church family. He never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington is serving the family.
