Alonzo Lee Davis

Mr. Alonzo Lee “Lonnie” Davis Jr., 88, passed away May 24, 2026 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. A celebration of life event will be held in the future.

Lonnie was born January 17, 1938 in Lexington, NC, where he lived for 86 years. He resided at Brookridge Retirement Community in Winston-Salem for the past 2 years. He met the love of his life, Jannet Crotts Davis, in eighth grade, and they were married in 1959. She preceded him in death in 2000. His parents, Alonzo Lee Davis, Sr. and Virginia Myers Davis also preceded him in death.

Lonnie was the third generation of Davises to lead Davis Chevrolet. He was a champion father, grandfather and great-grandfather who loved having fun with his family. Throughout his life, when he wasn’t working long hours or spending time with his family, he sought the adventure and solitude of the wild outdoors, often with a black lab by his side. Like his father before him, he would choose “the road less traveled by.”

Carrying on Lonnie’s sense of adventure are his son, Lee Davis (Ann) of Winston-Salem, his daughter, Charlotte Davis Beck (Johnny) of Fleetwood, a sister, Mary Davis Hedrick of Winston-Salem, and a brother, Mike Davis (Sonya) of Lexington, half-brother, Dan Davis (Emma) of Cary and half-sister, Saundra Westervelt (Van), of Greensboro; five grandchildren, Hunter Davis (Laura), Anna Phillips (Reed), Kathryn Packett (Ryan), Jack Davis and Kacie Beck, and six great-grandchildren, Sam Phillips, Livvy Packett, Luke Davis, Emmett Phillips, James Davis and Graham Packett. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the staff of Brookridge and especially special friend, Delaney Efthimiou, for their care and concern in recent months.

Memorials can be made to Davidson Medical Ministries of Lexington, NC or to the charity of your choice.
