Amelia Haynes Smith

January 18, 1958 — September 3, 2017

Amelia Dare Haynes Smith, 59, of Clemmons joined her Lord and Savior on Sunday, September 3, 2017. On Wednesday, September 6, the viewing and visitation with the family will be at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church in Winston-Salem from 12:30 to 2:00.  The funeral service will be at 2:00 at the church followed by the burial at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington. Amelia was born in Lexington, grew up in Rocky Mount, and raised her family in Winston-Salem for over 30 years.  She worked as an X-Ray Technologist at Duke Hospital, and later she relocated to Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.  During this time, she met the love of her life Bill at Knollwood Baptist Church.  Her life has been a journey of sharing her love, caring for others, and always putting others before herself.  Spending time with her family and taking pride in her children’s endeavors and successes were her joy and happiness.  Amelia was an angel from heaven who touched someone’s life every single day.  We will miss her spunky spirit and shy giggle, but we will rejoice as she celebrates her new life with her dad in heaven. Amelia’s spirit and memories will be cherished by her husband William “Bill” Marion Smith, Jr. of the home; son Steven William Smith (Andrea) of Huntersville; daughter Michelle Smith Wence (Bryan) of Knightdale; son David Carl Smith and daughter Meredith Lee Smith of the home; grandchildren Natalie Mae Smith and Steven William Smith, Jr. of Huntersville; mother Mary Haynes Gupton (Johnson) of Winston-Salem; sister Donna Haynes McCachern (Larry) of Harrisburg; nephew Robert William McCachern (Erika) of Harrisburg; and great-nephew Ethan William McCachern. Since Amelia was such a giver to everyone she met, we ask that you make donations to Duke Heart Center, Duke Pediatric Cardiology, or the Arthritis Foundation in lieu of flowers. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
