Andrew Joseph "Andy" Antkowiak

Andrew Joseph "Andy" Antkowiak of Welcome, North Carolina, passed away on July 13, 2026, after a long illness, a battle he faced with the same stubborn optimism he brought to every aspect of his life.

Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Dorothy Antkowiak. He is survived by his sister, Catherine Raab; his niece, Jessica Lauten (Darren) ; his nephew, Brennan Raab (Jennifer); and many extended family members, friends, and loved ones whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Andy had a remarkable gift for seeing the best in people. He surrounded himself with friends who loved him fiercely, and he returned that love tenfold. He approached life with humor, heart, and an uncanny ability to bring light to even the most difficult moments. Even during his final days, Andy continued to crack jokes, share laughter, and lift the spirits of those around him.

Andy found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved spending time fishing, always hopeful that the next cast would bring the perfect catch. A devoted fan of the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres, he remained loyal to his teams through every season, celebrating their victories and standing by them through their challenges.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of a life defined by kindness, laughter, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others.

Andy's legacy is both simple and profound: find the good in others, cherish the people you love, and never lose your sense of humor. He will be deeply missed by his family, as well as the many friends who became family over the years.
