Ann Strickland Darr

Our maternal anchor, Ann Strickland Darr, 92, departed this life unexpectedly to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 3, 2024 while living at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury, NC.

A native of Davidson County, Ann was born on March 17, 1932 to the late J. Harold and Annie Davis Strickland. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 69 years, Lester T. Darr. Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Katherine Darr (Larry Burks) of Biltmore Lake, NC and Jeri Price (Joe) of Sunset Beach, NC; five grandchildren, Ginny Brookshire (Ricky) of Boone, NC, Jamie Quintana (Dillon) of Charlotte, NC, David Price of Concord, NC, Erin Burks Chang (Justin) of Redlands, CA and Jake Burks of Waynesville, NC; and six great grandchildren - Roman, Camden, Aletheia, Leorah, Evangelina, and Ransom. Ann is also survived by her brother Phillip Strickland (Bonnie) and her sister-in-law Margaret Strickland. Her brother Donald Strickland and her sister Linda Carmichael preceded her in death.

Ann was a devout member of Jersey Baptist Church while she and Lester resided at High Rock Lake in Lexington, NC. She was an accountant at various banking institutions throughout her career, but service to her church was a more meaningful part of her life. She taught Sunday school classes, prepared many community meals, and volunteered for a variety of mission projects. Her love of family shone brightly to all who knew her. Her legacy for kindness, compassion, joy, and gratitude will forever remain in our hearts.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Jersey Baptist Church, 2920 Jersey Church Road in Lexington, NC on Saturday, October 19, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Visitation will follow in the Fellowship Hall after the service. A private interment will be held at a later date.
