Ann Lippard

May 7, 1936 — January 10, 2025

Barbara “Ann” Goodrum Lippard, 88, of Lexington passed away on Friday, January 10, 2025 at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lippard.  She was Jim’s biggest supporter for all of his many adventures, but especially American Legion baseball.  While Ann may not have been able to determine a strike from a ball, you could find her on the first base line at every game played at Holt Moffitt Field.  Ann travelled the states with Jim to watch major league baseball games, visit baseball museums, and create lasting memories.  Losing their mother and father within 113 days of each other is an immense loss to Lisa, Julie, and Jamie, but they know they were abundantly blessed to have parents with such a storybook love.  Having been married 67 years, they were a team facing life’s challenges and celebrating life’s joys, and proof that love conquers all. It is a comfort to the family knowing that Ann and Jim are together again.  Ann always put Jim and family first.  Her happiest moments were when her family was all gathered together.  Some of her greatest joy came from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Her life was one marked by love, compassion, and an unwavering faith in God.

Ann was born on May 7, 1936 to Jasper and Virginia Goodrum.  She was retired from Davidson County Social Services, and an active member of Second Reformed United Church of Christ until her health prohibited her from participating in church activities. She was an officer of her church circle for many years and in 2009, Ann was honored to receive the Pearle Peeler Award.  Ann was an avid book reader and a former volunteer for Meals on Wheels.  Those who knew Ann will remember her for mailing cards to family and friends.  She was dedicated to reaching out with the perfect card and handwritten message no matter the occasion.

Ann is survived by daughters, Lisa Davis, Julie Barker (Paul), and Jamie Bell (Allen); grandchildren, Chris Davis (Jessica), Luke Davis (Carmen), Neil Barker (Kayla) and Morgan Bell-Robinson (Joe); great-grandchildren, Peyton, Roper, Savannah, Madelyn and Christian; and great-great grandson, Wesson.  In addition to being predeceased by her husband, Jim, and her parents, Ann was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tracy Davis, and her brothers, Felix and Marlet Goodrum.

There are no words the family can express to the staff of Piedmont Crossing for the care, kindness, respect and love they showed Ann.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, 301 North Main Street, Lexington, NC on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation to follow.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in Ann’s memory to Davidson County Senior Services, 555-B West Center Street Extension, Lexington, NC 27295, with a notation that your memorial should be earmarked for Meals on Wheels.
