Ann White Smith, age 88 of Brookstone Retirement Center, formerly of Woodcrest Drive, Lexington passed away Wednesday night at Brookstone.
There will be no service, however the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 8:00 pm Saturday (Dec. 27, 2014) at the home 19 Woodcrest Drive, Lexington.
Ann was born on August 10, 1926 in Davidson County to George Spencer and Mary Plummer White. She was a graduate and served as President of Lexington Senior High School, Class of 1943. She was a graduate of Greensboro College with a BA degree and retired from Davidson County Department of Social Services with 30 plus years of service; was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ. Ann was an avid Tennis Player and Duplicate Bridge Player; enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and crocheting; was a member of Lexington Charity League where she enjoyed participating in the plays for children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Gerald (Bill) Smith in 2009; sister, Marylen White Brown and a half-brother, R.B. White.
Ann is survived by her son, William G. (Jerry) Smith, Jr. of Lexington; her daughter, Susan Beck (Herbert) of Lexington; 4 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren.
The family request that any food or flowers be donated the Homeless Shelter of Davidson County and, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to Brookstone Retirement Center, 2968 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington, NC 27295 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292
