Ann Carolyn Story

December 25, 1938 — October 30, 2025

Rockwell

Ann Carolyn Story, 86, of Rockwell, passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, at Meadows of Rockwell. She was born on December 25, 1938, in Davidson County to the late Lacy Little Story and Lala Musgrave Story.

Ann lived a life filled with quiet adventure and artistic wonder. Her career as a zookeeper in New York reflected her deep love of animals and her willingness to explore the world beyond her hometown. She had a special fondness for big cities, yet carried herself with humility and grace wherever she went.

A gifted artist, Ann found joy in painting the beauty of nature—landscapes, flowers, and serene outdoor scenes that captured her gentle spirit. She was known for her kindness, creativity, and modesty, never seeking the spotlight but leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Wayne Story. She is survived by her nephew, David Story (Susan), her niece, Suzanne Deal (Darrell), her sister-in-law, Alice Story, and many loving great nieces and nephews.

A graveside service to honor Ann’s life will be held at Forest Hill Memorial Park on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davidson County Animal Shelter or to the Alzheimer’s Association, causes close to Ann’s heart.
