Anna Shoaf Smith Forrest

Anna Shoaf Smith Forrest, 78, of the Brian Center, formerly of Arvil Hunt Road, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the Brian Center. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Revs. Loretta Stutz and Dr. Ronald Mann. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Forrest was born in Davidson County on May 7, 1929, to Thomas Shoaf and Ida Mae Sowers Shoaf. She was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class and a retired employee of Burlington Industries. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Van D. Smith and Hosie Forrest; a brother, Roy Lee Smith; and a grandson, Nicholas Van Smith. Surviving are a son, Larry Van Smith and his wife, Libby, of Lexington; a daughter, Judy Mae Smith Braswell and her husband, Jackie, of Lexington; five grandchildren, Vanessa Garrett, Joseph Smith, Joey Smith, Allan Braswell and Brian Braswell; three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Holly and Cheyenne Braswell; three brothers, Lonnie Shoaf, Tommy Shoaf and Robert Shoaf, all of Midway; and four sisters, Lib Carter of Thomasville, Hazel Marsh of Winston-Salem, Frances Rothrock of Midway and Margie Vanhoy of Charlotte. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of the son, 676 Helmstetler Road. Memorials may be made to Mt.
