Anna Jean Pickett

December 17, 1927 — December 11, 2021

Anna Jean Bulla Pickett went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2021, surrounded by her loving family and the staff at Mount Vista Health Park in Denton.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 18, 2021, in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Pastors Joe Barbee and Brian Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 10 am until 11 am prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Anna Jean was born in Asheboro, North Carolina on December 17, 1927, to Dewey Cunningham Bulla and Maude Rush Bulla.  She was a Registered Nurse, having worked for Lexington Memorial Hospital for many years. She joined the Army Medical Corps at seventeen while in Nursing School at Highsmith Hospital in Fayetteville. Anna Jean loved the simple facets of life, a visit from a friend, a hearty laugh, or a trip to visit family. She took great joy in watching her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play sports and never missed a Braves Game on television. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Spring Arbor Care Facility, where Anna Jean found a home for assisted living, Carolina Senior Care for making the transitions of life effortless, and to Mountain Vista Health Park for their compassionate end of life care.   Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Pickett, Sr., brothers JD Bulla and Maxton Bulla and sisters Helen Crandford, Hazel Estridge, and Bea Williams.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Anne Hegler (Marshall), Mike Pickett (Debbie), and Hal Pickett, three grandchildren, Ben Pickett (Joanna), Andrew Pickett (Mallory), Carrie Hegler (Karlton); seven great-grandchildren, Lillian, Davis, Reagan, Anna Grace, Harper, Emerson and Avery; many Bulla and Pickett nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Imogene Bulla of Asheboro.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at 200 Vesey Street, 28th Floor, New York, NY 10281.
