Mary Annelle Cauthen Courtney, age 91 of Lexington, passed away on Monday, April 29, 2024, at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in the Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel. A private burial will follow.
A visitation with family and friends will be held one hour before the service from 10 to 11am.
Annelle was born in York, SC on March 5, 1933, to the late John Fletcher Cauthen and Annie Mae Clontz Cauthen. Annelle attended St. John’s United Methodist Church in Rock Hill, SC with her family as a child. Later in life, she was a member of Oakland Avenue Presbyterian Church in Rock Hill, SC until relocating to Lexington, NC where she attended Fairmont Presbyterian Church until she was unable to attend due to health reasons. She retired as an accountant with PPG Industries and was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton “Buddy” Courtney and her brother, William Fletcher Cauthen.
Surviving are her daughters, Cindy Courtney Lord and Sarah C. Cude; two grandchildren, Kristen Boyle (Brian) and Amy Potoczny (Nicholas) and three great-grandchildren, Drew, Blake and Chase Boyle, sister-in-law Joan Cauthen and all of her dear nieces and nephews in Rock Hill, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Davidson County Hospice at 200 Hospice Way, Lexington, NC 27292 or the Davidson County Animal Shelter at 490 Glendale Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
