Annie Mae Corn

Annie Mae Corn 100, of Lexington, NC died Tuesday, February 1, 2022, at Alston Brook Nursing Home.

A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Friday, February 4, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Pastors Ray Howell and Tommy Wilson. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 6 pm till 8 pm, Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home.

Annie was born November 30, 1921, in Greenville County, South Carolina to James Alexander Corn and Ophelia Irene Wright Corn.  She was a graduate Lexington High School, where she was co-captain of the basketball team and of Appalachian State Teacher’s College. She retired from Welcome Elementary School, where she taught and served as Assistant principal. She was the oldest member of First Baptist Church. Annie was the Regent (highest local office) in Captain Benjamin Merrill Chapter of NSDAR. When that chapter dissolved, she became a member of the Leonard’s Creek Chapter. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers; George Corn, Clarence Corn, Norman Corn, sister in-laws; Anna Jones Corn and Ruth Sink Corn.

Surviving are her nephews; Charlie Corn (Sue Anderson Corn), Mickey Corn (Mary Sue Corn), George Henry Corn Jr.  (Linda Corn) and Jim Corn (Penny Corn).

In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to First Baptist Church, PO Box 436, Lexington, NC 27293.
