Annie Belle Lanier Gooch, 86, of Bethesda Drive, died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Bethesda United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Doug Hochmuth. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Gooch was born Oct. 24, 1920, in Davidson County to Phillip Henry Lanier and Ollie Dameron Lanier. She retired from Christo's Pizza. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldo Ellis Gooch, who died Sept. 30, 1980; her son, Henry Ellis Gooch; her daughter, Elizabeth Ann Leonard; five brothers, Ray Lanier, Phillip H. Lanier Jr., the Rev. Hoyle Glenn Lanier, Eugene Lanier and J.W. Lanier; and two sisters, Edna Craver and Wilma Freedle. Surviving are her brother, Paul Odell Lanier and his wife, Bette, of Lexington; her sister, Linda Jarvis and her husband, Wayne, of Lexington; four grandchildren, Nathan A. Leonard, Jacob C. Leonard, Guy P. Gooch and Trevor W. Gooch; five great-grandchildren; and her daughter-in-law, Jean Gooch. Memorials may be directed to Bethesda United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 2922 Bethesda Road, Lexington, NC 27295. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Family Life Center at the church. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is in charge of arrangements.
