Annie Bell Smith Swicegood, 88, of Alston Brook Nursing Center, formerly of Helmstetler Road, died Wednesday, November 20, 2013, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 23, 2013, at Christian Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Revs. Sam Harvey and Billy Louya officiating. Burial will follow at Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2013, at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Swicegood was born August 3, 1925, in Rutherfordton County, to Charlie Epherin Smith and Lottie Bivens Smith. She was a member of Christian Baptist Church and VFW Auxiliary Ladies. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Junie Homer Swicegood; son, Steve Swicegood and an infant son; grandson, Darin Lewis Swicegood; brothers, Fred Smith, Grover Smith and Buddy Smith; and sisters, Ozell Ensley and Olar Mae Murray.
Surviving are son, Dale Swicegood and wife Karen of Lexington; daughter, Pansy Rummage and husband Don of Lexington; grandchildren, Marty Rummage and wife, Angelia, Dustin Rummage, Stevie, Wendy and Chris Swicegood; great-grandson, Joshua Rummage; daughter-in-law, Ginger Swicegood Stockton; brother Joe Smith and wife, Marie of Forest City; and sister, Elizabeth West Cartee of Rutherfordton.
