Mr. Anthony “Tony” Wayne Hewett, 69, of New Jersey Church Road, died Monday, May 18, 2026, at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2026, at Meadowview Deliverance Tabernacle, located at 210 Sink Inn Road, Lexington, with Bro. David Roper officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Hewett was born on October 11, 1956, in Brunswick County, to the late James Stanford Hewett, Sr. and Zettie Thelma Lewis Hewett.
Tony retired from AmeriGas and loved the people he worked with for so many years. Most of all, he loved God, his family, and his church family, and was a member of Meadowview Deliverance Tabernacle for over 50 years. Mr. Hewett enjoyed singing, loved making people laugh, and enjoyed rocking on the front porch with his brother, James. He always proved to be dependable and will be remembered as a loving husband, brother, and friend to many.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brothers, James Stanford Hewett, Jr. and Michael Dale Hewett; his sisters, Shirley Ward and Louise “Tootsie” Hewett.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Debbie Testerman Hewett, of the home; a brother, Robert “R.E.” Hewett (Linda) of Shallotte; a sister, Wanda Wood (Kenny) of Lexington; a sister-in-law, Annie Shipton Hewett; many nieces and nephews; and his fur babies, Molly and Chipper.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be considered for Lexington Gideon Camp, P.O. Box 285, Lexington, NC 27293.
