Archie Voils Briggs

Archie Voils Briggs, age 91 of Hunters Way, Lexington passed away Sunday night (5-11-2008) at Lexington Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday(5-14-2008) at Second Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Bill Sosebee and burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mr. Briggs was born in Davidson County, March 24, 1917 to Walter Lee Briggs and Lestia Elizabeth Swing Briggs. He was a retired employee of Dacotah Mills, a member of Second Presbyterian Church where he had served as a Deacon and Elder. He was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served in World War II. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Carl, James, Cletus and Paul Briggs, a sister Lucille Briggs and half-brother Everette Swing. Surviving are his wife of 67 years Annie Hill Briggs of the home, one sister; Goldie McCrary of Lexington and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Second Presbyterian Church, PO Box 1334, Lexington, NC 27293 The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 6 until 8 pm at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
