Archie Wilson Brooks’ life sadly ended Thursday, April 1, 2010, the same place it began 72 years ago, at his home, on Brooks Circle.
A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 5, 2010, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Patrick Snow and Carroll Lupton officiating. The family will receive friends at the home.
Mr. Brooks was born November 22, 1937, in Davidson County, to Nyal Wilson Brooks and Granice Koonts Brooks. He was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church and had worked for Davidson County as Assistant Maintenance Superintendent.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Ramona Hartley Brooks of the home; daughters, Paula Brooks and Carrie Beth Highfill and husband, Mark, all of Lexington; grandchildren, Brandy Parker, Carmen Brucker, Candice Kreps and Shelley Highfill; great-grandchildren, Ivy Brucker, Emily Brucker, Tyler Kreps and Michael Archie Tarter; sisters, Gail B. Koontz of Lexington and Sally B. Maxwell of High Point; mother-in-law, Louise Hartley; close cousins by blood,but brothers by love, Butch Brooks and wife, Nancy, and Harvey Brooks and wife, Melinda; brother-in-law, Harrison Hartley and wife, Connie; and sisters-in-law, Charlotte Walser and Tillie Comer; and Brandy and Carmen’s father Gary Parker.
