Archie Brice Craver

Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.-Matthew 11:28 Archie Brice Craver, the son of Stamey Lee and Martha Fishel Craver, was born on December 21, 1924, in the Arcadia Community of Davidson County. In 1963 he married Ruth Bullard Livengood, who went before him in 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, William, Luther and Jack Craver, and William’s wife, Mildred. Surviving are his sisters-in-law, Katherine S. Craver and Elizabeth H. Craver. After working as a farmer and at Clemmons Mill, he retired from the U. S. Post Office in Lexington in 1988. Mr. Craver was a World War II veteran, earning two bronze stars while serving with the 317th infantry in Rhineland and Central Europe. He was a member of Arcadia VFW Post 10485 and AMVETS Post 760. He was a faithful member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church and the Men’s Bible Class. Mr. Craver was a caring stepfather to Lon and Don Livengood, who predeceased him; Bob Livengood; Gene Livengood and his wife Jean; and special grandfather to their children. He was also a loving, generous uncle to ten nieces and nephews and their families. On November 9, 2009, he left behind the burden this life had become for his eternal rest. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 PM on Wednesday, November 11, at Davidson Funeral Home Hickory Tree Chapel. A celebration of Mr. Craver’s life will be held at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 12, at 2 PM with burial to follow in the church cemetery with military rites by Clemmons VFW Memorial Honor Guard.
