Arlene Staton Burnette

Arlene Staton Burnette, 88, of Lexington went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 06, 2021 at Richmond County Hospice Haven.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel in Lexington with Pastor Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will follow at 1 pm in the Salisbury National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 pm until 7 pm on Monday at Davidson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Burnette was born in Amherst County, VA on February 15, 1933 to Broadus P. Staton and Willie Brooks Turner. She was a retired nursing assistant, having worked for Buena Vista Nursing Home and was a devoted member of Freedom Baptist Church for over thirty years. Mrs. Burnette was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose memory will be cherished forevermore. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Wesley Burnette.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving sons, Barry Burnette (Judy) of Lexington and Duane Burnette (Jane) of Rockingham; a half-brother, Donald Lee Turner of Lynchburg, VA; two grandsons, Matthew Burnette (Casey) and Wesley Burnette (Devinne); four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Eliana, Emalyn, and Axel; step grandchildren, Dawn Johnson (Jason), Dwayne Owens (Julie); five step great-grandchildren; and nine step great-great-grandchildren.
