Arlene Lashmit Swing, 79 of Riverview Rd. Ext., Lexington died Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Rowan Regional Medical Center after an serious illness of five weeks.
A memorial service will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m., March 1, 2011 at First Reformed United Church of Christ where she was a member, with Rev. June Grubb officiating. A private inurnment will be held at a later date at First Reformed United Church of Christ Columbarium. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, February 28, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home or his daughter; Denise Durham on Indian Wells Circle, Lexington.
Mrs. Swing was born February 20, 1932, in Davidson County, to Robert B. Lashmit and Aval Brewer Lashmit. She worked for Lexington Mail Order and was part owner of Swing Transport, former board member of Davidson County Art Guild, and most of all loved her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Cecil Lashmit and Harold Lashmit. Surviving are her husband, James “Jim” Swing of the home; two daughters, Linda Burkhart and husband Chip of Spencer, and Denise Durham and husband Ronnie of Lexington; four grandchildren, Courtney Grimsley and husband Wesley, Brad Durham, Christopher and Bryan Burkhart; two sisters, Ronelle Summitt and Donelle Harmon.
