Arlie John Essick

Arlie John Essick, 92 of Pickett Rd., Lexington died Friday morning August 31, 2012 at Hinkle Hospice House.  A funeral service will be Tuesday September 4, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel with Rev. Mark Blair and Mr. Larry Sides officiating.  Burial will follow at First Baptist of Welcome Cemetery with Military Honors by the Davidson County Honor Guard.   The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home and at other times at the home on Pickett Rd.   Mr. Essick was born in Davidson County on January 5, 1920 to Emory Essick and Mary Ida Shoaf Essick.  He was a retired carpenter, served in the US Army and was a member of First Baptist of Welcome. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Ellard, Frank, Gilmer and Harold Essick and sisters Blanche Hanes and Jean Leonard.   Surviving are his wife loving wife of 72 years, Dorothy Pickett Essick of the home, sons Larry Wayne Essick and wife Joy of Wilmington, Donald Gray Essick and wife Pat of Swansboro and Randy Lynn Essick of Albany, GA. 3 Grandchildren, Christie, Kevin and Kim.  9 Great Grandchildren, Jeremy, Megan, Blake, Allie, Brandon, Tyler, Dillon, Amy and Peter.  Also surviving are a sister Bonnie Kirk of Lexington.   Memorials may be directed to Hinkle Hospice House, 200 Hospice Lane, Lexington, NC 27292       Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
