Arteal Briggs Porter

Arteal Briggs Porter, 93 of formerly of Paul Beck Rd. Lexington died Wednesday February 23, 2011 in the Brian Center of Salisbury. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Sunday at Becks Lutheran Church where she was a member with Rev. David Lowis Martin officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Becks Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Mrs. Porter was born in Anson County on April 15, 1917 to Charles H. Briggs and Rosa Elizabeth Beck Briggs. She was retired from Lexington Memorial Hospital where she worked as a licensed practical nurse in the intensive care unit. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Cheryl Porter Snider-Owen; brother Charles Carson Briggs and sisters, Zella Gillespie; Charlotte Boyer; Hazel Oakley; Bernice Briggs Goodman Surviving are son Darryl H. Porter and wife Rachel of Granite Quarry, NC; grandchildren, Melissa Utley and husband Robert; Heather Penley and husband of Todd; Derek Porter and wife Danielle; Shelly Snider and great grandchildren, Jessica Utley; Nick Utley; Travis Penley and Hannah Penley; sisters Mary Rugg of Reno, NV and Laverne Kemp of New Market, Maryland. Memorials may be made to Becks Lutheran Church, 441 Becks Church Rd., Lexington, NC 27292
