Arthur William Fowler, Sr.

Mr. Arthur William Fowler, Sr., of Lexington, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. He was born on March 5, 1920, in Tappan, NY, the son of Leslie and Josephine (Hanley) Fowler. Arthur was a Chief Radioman in the U.S .Coast Guard and a veteran of World War II, serving from to July 9, 1940 to July 12, 1946. Following his time in the service, he owned and operated his own appliance repair business, before becoming a U.S. Customs Inspector. Arthur retired from U.S. Customs in 1987. Arthur is survived by his wife, Ingeborg (Vandervliet) Fowler, of Lexington, NC. He is also survived by his twelve children –sons, Arthur Fowler, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Saratoga Springs, NY, Michael Fowler of Englewood, FL, Richard Fowler, of Florissant, MO, Christopher Fowler and his wife, Tina, of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Kevin Fowler and his wife, Karen, of Barboursville, WV, Herbert Fowler of Fayetteville, NY, Timothy Fowler, of Plattsburgh, NY, Keith Fowler and his wife, Tracy, of Everett, WA, and four daughters, Deborah Laskiewicz, of Cibolo, TX, Leslie LaValley and her husband Thomas, Karen Fortunatus, and Michele Maddix, all of Plattsburgh, NY. He is also survived by his sister, Eileen Colarell, of Nyack, NY, as well as, 24 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Arthur was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia (Bleil) Fowler, his parents, his brother, Joseph Fowler, and sisters, Gertrude Simmons, and Patricia Scott.
