Arthur Richard Sloat, 88 of Woodhaven Drive, Lexington died Friday night (12/29/2006) in Kindred Hospital in Greensboro after an extended illness.
Mr. Sloat was born on November 17, 1918 in Westchester County, NY to
Charles Sloat and Theresa Cline Sloat. He retired from Duracell USA and was a member of the RCR Model Flying Club. Mr. Sloat served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was preceded in death by his first wife Tina Rohrback Sloat.
Surviving are his wife Joyce Wilson Sloat of the home; daughter Linda Sloat Byrd-Dillon and husband R. Clark of Lexington; step-sons Jimmy Fine and Dennis Fine both of Lexington; grandchildren Cindy Byrd Chrysler and husband Billy of Fort Myers, FL, Donna Byrd-Wyall and husband Glenn of Lexington and Michael John Byrd of Southmont; great-grandchildren Victoria Wyatt and Christina Wyatt; and his precious pet Sam.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, January 2, 2007 in the Davidson Funeral Home – Lexington Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Wayne Sechrest.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm on Tuesday, prior to the memorial service at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
