Arthur "Cotton" Trantham

Arthur Lee "Cotton" Trantham, 81, of Brian Center Nursing Home and formerly of Hugh Miller Road, Lexington, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at the nursing home. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Maranatha Baptist Tabernacle, where he was a member, by the Rev. Thomas Todd. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Mr. Trantham was born Nov. 21, 1924, in Davidson County to Harvey Lee Trantham and Lottie Belle Cooper Trantham. He was retired from Dixie Furniture. He was preceded in death by a sister, Geneva Burkhart. Surviving are his wife, Joretta "Jo" Lovell Trantham of the home; two sons, Mike Trantham and his wife, Tonya, and Kelly Trantham, both of Lexington; three daughters, Cathy Trantham and Tammie Wright and her husband, Craig, all of Lexington, and Erica Trantham of the home; seven grandchildren, Stephanie Varner and her husband, Josh, Ashley Hedrick and her husband, Lindsay, Jason Wright and his wife Jennifer, Chris Wright, Strader Surratt, Brandi Lubarsky and her husband, Jay, and Josh Trantham; four great-grandchildren, Alysa Wright, Ryan Hedrick, Kaylee Lubarsky and Allison Lubarsky; a special niece, Frances Jarrell; and a nephew, Jackie Trantham. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home.
