Arvil Styers

October 27, 1923 — January 16, 2022

Arvil Cecil Styers, 98, of Jr. Order Home Rd, passed away peacefully Sunday, January 16 at his home surrounded by his family.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm Thursday, January 20 at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, by the Reverend Randy Hall and will be livestreamed at https://www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome/

The family will receive friends following the service and other times at the home.

Arvil was born October 27, 1923 in Davidson County to Abram Columbus Styers and Pallie May Hardister Styers.  He was married to Peggy Mellon Styers for 67 years and retired from North Carolina Finishing Company after 46 years of employment.  He was a faithful member of Fairmont Presbyterian Church (New Hope Presbyterian) where he served as both a Deacon and an Elder.  Arvil loved to travel and visited 48 of the 50 states in addition to 10 European countries.  He also enjoyed planting and harvesting from his garden each summer and taking yearly trips to Holden Beach.

In addition to his parents, Arvil was predeceased by his sisters, Vera Owen, Mattie Cook, Hattie Hunt, Sadie Gerringer, Ethel Lee Browning, and brother, Paul Styers.  He is survived by his wife, Peggy, his son, Phillip Styers (Janie) and daughter, Celia Stalvey (Ben); three granddaughters, Caroline Stalvey, Caby and Abbey Styers; and a loving nephew, Don Styers (Sarah).
