Mr. Arvil Franklin Wilson, 93, of Carolina House and formerly of Old Highway 64 East, passed away Tuesday, November 13 at Hinkle Hospice House.
His funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, November 16 at Silver Valley Baptist Church by the Revs. Gene Little and Joe Leach. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tony Wilson, 2063 Old Highway 109, Lexington.
Mr. Wilson was born April 16, 1919 in Davidson County to Claude and Bertha Cross Wilson. He was married to his loving wife, Maggie Rhodes Wilson for 71 years. Prior to his retirement, he was a weaver for Frank IX and Sons. He had a lifelong love of rabbit hunting with his beagles. He also enjoyed farming and raising horses. He was a member of Silver Valley Baptist Church where he served many years as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Superintendent of Sunday School and choir leader. He loved to sing and witness of God's love. His wife, Maggie, preceded him in death, as well as his brother, Efird Wilson Sr., and his sister, Arlene Cody.
He is survived by his son, Tony Wilson and wife, Doris of Lexington; his daughters, Rita W. Bean and husband, Phil, and Amelia Cates and husband, Korkie, both of Greensboro, and Karen W. Young and husband, Kent, of Lexington; his grandchildren, Darren Wilson, and DeAnn Holmes and husband Randy, all of Lexington, Lindsey Bradley and husband Jason of Greensboro, Meredith Bean of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Jessica Williams and husband, Chad of Burgaw, Joseph Young and wife, Katie of Lexington, Erika Cook and husband Matt of High Point, Joshua Cates and Caleb Cates, of Greensboro; his great grandchildren, Taylor Wilson, Courtney Wilson, Ryne Holmes, Dylan Holmes, Ella Williams, Matthew Williams, Malachi Bradley, Noah Bradley, Addison Bradley, and Maggie Bradley; and his sister, Eunice Hedrick.
Mr. Wilson and his wife Maggie were in declining health for the past five years. During that time they were blessed to have the loving care of Gladys Brent and Harriet Pullum in their home. As their needs progressed, they moved to Carolina House of Lexington where they were well cared for and made to feel at home by the staff. For this the Wilson family is truly grateful.
