Arvil Lee Wishon, 77, of Brookdale of Lexington, died Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Clyde Akers. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, and at other times at the home of a brother, Ralph Wishon on Pickett Drive. Arvil Lee was born in Surry County on Aug. 4, 1939, to Harrison Edward and Ethel Mary Carter Wishon. He was a former employee of Lexington Abrasive Belt. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers James Paul Wishon, Harrison Edward Wishon Jr. and Leonard Harrison Wishon. Surviving are his brothers, Ralph Wishon and wife Linda of Lexington and Steve Wishon of Welcome; sister-in-laws Marie Wishon and Beverly Wishon, both of Tyro; and numerous nieces and nephews. Even though Arvil had polio since he was 5 years old, he always had a happy smile and had a natural ability to love and enjoy being with people.
