Audrey Lee Thomas Helms

Mrs. Audrey Lee Thomas Helms, 90, died Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Piedmont Crossing in Thomasville.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 31, 2026, at Reeds Baptist Church, with Pastor Henry Watterson officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.

She was born on June 17, 1935, in Union County, to the late Hubert and Ruby Baucom Thomas.

Mrs. Helms was a devoted Christian and was a member of Garr Memorial Church in Charlotte and attended Reeds Baptist Church in her later years. She enjoyed relishing in God’s Word and loved to help others find Christ. Mrs. Helms was in senior leadership for Shaklee and her two main goals in life were to help people be nutritionally sound and spiritually sound. She loved the sun and enjoyed outdoor activities, including tennis and taking long walks. Mrs. Helms also loved traveling and enjoyed visiting the Florida beaches. She will be remembered as a selfless, devoted, and caring wife, mother, sister, and friend to many.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Hal Lucrean Helms; a brother, Eugene Thomas; and a sister, Sue Thomas Ferguson.

Survivors include her two sons, Doug Helms (Cindy) and Tony Helms (Annette); a grandson, Jordan Lain Helms (Jena); two great-grandchildren, Avery Claire Helms and David Henry Helms; a sister-in-law, Margaret Thomas; a brother-in-law, Eugene Ferguson; and several nieces and nephews.
