Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Austin Ray Bowden, 29, who left us on August 24, 2026. He was born in Lexington to Cherryl Miller and Harold Wayne Bowden.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening, September 1, 2026, at Near Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.

A funeral service will be held the following day, Wednesday at 2:00 PM, at the church with Rev. Jeff Walser officiating.

Burial will conclude services in the church cemetery.

Austin was a wonderful man, a loving husband and father who loved his wife and two daughters and was devoted to them. He worked hard every day at LSX Salvage in Lexington, NC where his employer talked very highly of him.

Austin shared a beautiful life and enduring love with his beloved wife, Jennifer Rose Bowden. Their marriage was built on love, commitment, family, and a lifetime of memories. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Nellie Jane Bowden, 4 years old, and Lillie Rae Bowden, 1 year old, and they will carry his love with them through the years.

Preceding him in death is his grandpa, Harold Wayne Bowden Sr. (Pops)

He leaves behind his wonderful wife, Jennifer, and his two beautiful daughters, Nellie Jane and Lillie Rose.

He is survived by his mother, Cherryl Miller, of Beaulaville, NC; his father, Wayne Bowden, of Linwood; three brothers, Brantly Andrew Miller, of Lexington, Willie Bowden, of Tazewell, VA, and Dustin Wayne Bowden (Medessa); one sister, Brittany Leonard, of Tazewell, VA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Josh and Ashley Phillips, of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Allison Giles (Tan), and Madison Phillips; brother-in-law, Joshua Phillips Jr. (Mariah); grandparents, Bobby and Nancy Miller, of Lexington; several aunts and uncles, and a bunch of nieces and nephews that all loved him dearly.
