Avery Cooper Hedrick

March 3, 1924 — April 11, 2008

Avery Marie Cooper Hedrick, 84, of Centerclair Nursing Center, and formerly of Beck’s Nursery Road, Lexington, died Friday at the nursing facility after declining health of several years. The funeral service will be at 4:00 PM Sunday, April 13, 2008 at the Memorial United Church of Christ, officiated by Rev. Don Leonard. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery. Mrs. Hedrick was born March 3, 1924 in Davidson County to Russell Cooper and Martha Tesh Cooper. She was a homemaker and member of Memorial United Church of Christ. Her husband, John Harlen Hedrick preceded her in death on December 17, 2002, as well as two brothers: Greer Cooper and Homer Cooper, and a sister, Agnes Holler. She is survived by her son, Grady Hedrick and wife, Luanne, of Lexington; her daughters: Kathy Coggins and husband, Kelton, and Sandra Johnson and husband, Goble, both of Lexington; her grandchildren: Ethan Hedrick, Emily Hedrick, Shea Johnson, Shawn Johnson, Sheree Lanier, Kelly Coggins and Kimberly Jones; her great-grandchildren: Alisha Jones, Luke Jones, Harleigh Johnson, Alex Lanier, Kristen Lanier, and Tyler Lanier; and her brother, Eugene Cooper and wife, Louise, of Churchland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday and other times at their respective homes. Memorials may be made to Memorial United Church of Christ, 3806 E. Old Highway 64, Lexington NC 27292.
