B. Glenn Smith

August 18, 1932 — December 13, 2021

Badgley Glenn Smith, 89, of Riverview Road, died Monday, December 13 at Rowan Regional Hospital.

A graveside service will be held at 3pm Monday, December 20 at Forest Hill Memorial Park, by the Rev. Dwight Cartner.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Mr. Smith was born August 18, 1932 in Davidson County to George Badgely Hoover Smith and Helen Younts Smith. He faithfully served his country in the US Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954.  He retired after 42 years in banking, serving as President of Perpetual Savings and Loan from 1964 to 1998, and later as President of Fidelity Bank. Glenn also served as a Director of Energy United (formerly Davidson EMC) for more than 40 years and served on the Lexington Zoning Board for many years. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, where he had served as Deacon. He was a past member of the Optimist Club, where he coached one of the baseball teams; and the Lexington Rotary Club. Glenn was an avid golfer and loved to duck hunt in his earlier days.

He is survived by his daughters, Glenda Walters and Karen Brown, both of Lexington; his son, Scott Smith of Lexington; and his grandchildren, Emily Brown and Jorja Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial should be made to the Salvation Army, 314 W. Ninth Ave, Lexington NC 27292.
